I have a wide range of experience in the private, public and charity sectors and I want to be the next Member of Parliament for Stroud. I will be a powerful advocate for everybody in Stroud and a strong ambassador for the constituency. I married my husband last year and he and I are both slaves to our cats.
I grew up in North Yorkshire and I was state school educated. Aged 17, I moved down south while applying for a job as a legal secretary.
I worked my way up to qualify as a Solicitor. While working full time as a legal assistant, I studied in the evenings and attended law school at the weekends. I was proud to be personally listed in the Legal 500 rankings as a highly recommended solicitor and part of the number one family law team in the Thames Valley. In 2016, after 17 years in law, I decided to pursue a career in policy and politics.
Head of Policy
I am the Head of Policy and Communications for a fabulous charity, OnePlusOne. We are a national charity and since 1971 we have been dedicated to strengthening families and relationships. We are committed to providing in
depth research and create evidence based training programmes and digital
I work closely with other charities, politicians, civil servants, think tanks and local authorities. OnePlusOne also has decades of experience with the family justice system and CAFCASS. Recent projects: Relationships and Sex Education, parental conflict, no fault divorce research, separating parents information and creating a virtual relationship support environment.
Politics and Campaigning
In 2014, I won the election to be the Councillor for Frognal and Fitzjohn’s ward, in the London Borough of Camden and stood down in 2018. In the snap General Election of 2017, I was the parliamentary candidate for Bermondsey and Old Southwark in the London Borough of Southwark.
In August 2018, I won the highly contested selection to become the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Stroud. You can follow my work for Stroud in my news and campaigns sections of this website.
I also served as a school governor for Fitzjohn’s Primary school and volunteer for Scrubditch Care Farm in Gloucestershire.
The Stroud constituency was created in 1955. It includes Amberley and Woodchester, Berkeley, Bisley, Cainscross, Cam East, Cam West, Chalford, Coaley and Uley, Dursley, Eastington and Standish, Farmhill and Paganhill, Hardwice, Nailsworth, Painswick, Rodborough, Severn, Slad, Stonehouse, Stroud, The Stanleys, Thrupp, Trinity, Uplands, Upton St Leonards, Vale and Valley.
We are fortunate to be a beautiful rural area with a wealth of diverse towns, villages and industrial parts that sit comfortably alongside one another. There is an eclectic mix of independent shops, a brilliant farmer’s market, good transport links, leading businesses and good schools.
Stroud was held by the Conservatives until the General Election in 2017, when Neil Carmichael sadly lost by just 687 votes. It is my job to win it back and I am working with a large team of Conservative County Councillors, District Councillors, activists and the wider Gloucestershire teams to make this happen.
